Child Care

Today we toured another day care facility - this time at First Baptist in downtown. We really liked it and are praying and hoping that we are able to get into one of the downtown facilities. It would be such a blessing to have our little one so close to where I work. The wait lists seem to be really long for both of them and it will be a miracle if we get in. Apparently it is hard to get your first one in, but once you get in the siblings are in automatically. Please pray something works out. It seems like so far away, but in child care world, it isn't. If anyone knows of other non-downtown facilities that are good, please let us know!

Hormones and other Ramblings

So I've always heard that pregnant women are emotional. I'm there. It is the silliest things that bring me to tears. I don't get it. I was sitting in church Sun. night and they did the children's play that they did back for Thanksgiving - I don't know if it was the music or what - but there I was...in tears. It wasn't emotional at all! But seriously the loud music or the cheesy play - something got to me. (I tried to hide this from Kevin because I felt ridiculous). Then later I was watching a chick flick and - water works. I finally turned it off and went upstairs to see what Kevin was doing because I felt so silly sitting there crying alone at a movie I've seen dozens of times. Being pregnant brings all sorts of fun to the body and the emotions! I did buy the pregnancy pillow thing (shaped like a C) - and it has helped. I would recommend it to any pregnant woman!

Doctor Doctor

We had a doctor's appointment today. It was very routine. We heard the heartbeat, which always feels so good to hear! Since I haven't felt the baby move yet, I was starting to worry. I should be feeling it any day now. He said I was measuring perfectly and the heartbeat was great - so everything should be fine.

The doctor is pretty laid back and just asks how things are going. He gave me a lecture about making sure I stay hydrated in the heat. I doubt I'll be in the heat too much, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

He did confirm I am allowed to have 2 caffeinated beverages a day. I have been drinking tea with lunch and/or dinner, so I feel better knowing he was okay with that. I've given up the cokes completely (except for the few I needed during late nights during busy season) but have had a hard time giving up the tea. I'm a southerner for sure.

The good news is we scheduled our sonogram appointment for Tuesday, May 19th at 9am. I can't wait!! It seems like so far away. I'll try to be patient! Will we make Mimi a happy lady and have a girl - or will we start out our family with a boy? Time will tell...

State of Our Union

So the 2009 tax season is finally over! Whoo hoo! This means we can reintroduce ourselves to the world and finally start our blog. Quick update for those behind...we're pregnant! We are expecting Baby Tooker (our 1st) September 18, 2009. We are very excited and glad we now have the chance to plan for his/her arrival. We do not know the sex of the baby yet. We hope to find out soon - however, it sounds like our doctor will not do a sonogram for another 5 weeks. I'll be 23 weeks at that point. Patience...

The pregnancy seems to be going very well. I am feeling really well these days and am very thankful for the increased energy. I was starting to wonder if it was ever coming - and it finally hit. The first trimester was rough - but not nearly as rough as others. It was a little tough dealing with the first trimester during busy season, but it is over now. Now the fun begins!

Kevin is a wonderful husband and has been very supportive. He has even participated in gaining some sympathy weight to make me feel better! But really, he is the best husband I could ask for and has gone out of his way to help me through so far. Kevin is staying really busy at work (as always) and seems to really enjoy his job. He enjoys traveling out to the ranch once a week and it has been fun to see the "city boy" go a little country.

Our family is doing great. The soon to be grandmothers (Ally & Mimi) are both really excited about the baby. We are still working on the name for Kevin's dad - so we are open to suggestions! The great-grandparents (Mimie & Papa) are also very excited. Our baby has already received a wonderful letter from them and look forward to meeting him/her. Nick & Kel are doing great in Nashville. We are so looking forward to visiting them in mid-May. Aunt Kadawg is finishing up her freshman year at OU (ugh) and we look forward to spending time with her this summer. Things are going well with Uncle J as his job is taking off. He has some babysitting practice with our nephew Dylan, so I know he'll be ready for baby Took! (We'll be calling!) Dustin, Tricia, & Dylan are closing out their time in Oklahoma. We are so looking forward to getting them back to Texas, just in time for the arrival of baby Took. Tricia had a great job interview today and we are all crossing our fingers and toes that it works out! Dylan is talking up a storm and never fails to entertain us. Just watch him roar and run! We hope he is okay with sharing the spotlight with a cousin.

Well there is so much to do and so many things to plan. We feel a little behind in the game, but have 5 months before we meet our little one. We appreciate all of the love & support we have received. We'll try to update this blog as much as we can to keep anyone interested informed. It will also be neat to share what was happening in our lives with our children.

Here is the first (and long over-due) belly pic! Me at 18 weeks...
