Saturday my "little" brothers turned 30! How is that possible?!? We enjoyed celebrating the milestone with a family lunch on Sunday. Hope the 30's are your best decade yet! Happy birthday brothers!!
Will went to his check-up this past Friday. He was very healthy and passed with flying colors! As I always do, I wanted to post his stats. He has grown so much this summer. I seriously think all of the growing he did over the last year happened in the last 3 months. He is getting so much heavier and suddenly all of his shirts are so much shorter! I just knew we were making the chart this time! We did...barely.
Weight: 27.8 lbs (3%)
Height: 36 1/2 in (25%)
The doctor said, "Well he isn't the biggest guy, but he is growing." Luckily he didn't have to get any shots - just a flu mist. That was a trip trying to explain how to snort in the mist to a 3 year old. Hopefully he got a little in there. So great to have a healthy boy!
Will turned 3 on the 17th and last Saturday on the 15th we had his big birthday party! This year we invited all his school friends and his neighborhood friends in addition to the family. I think he had a blast. It was the 3rd (yes 3rd) party he had been to that day – so I was worried how he would do. One small meltdown when he got in trouble for cutting in line on the pit, but other than that – he did great! The place was awesome – it was a gymnastics place close to the house and they handled everything. The even cut the cake for us. I really enjoyed it and loved the ease of the party. Here he is at the start of the party where they were going over the rules. I love this action shot! He said jumping was his favorite activity later. I love them all lined up and Will of course loved being the leader. This was cute they said they had a gift for him and showed him the girls leotard. He was a little confused and the joke was lost on him. Then they said they had another surprise. I don’t know why but I think they way they are covering their eyes is just so stinking cute. They gave the birthday boy a medal. He liked that. The foam pit looked pretty awesome. I really wanted to swing out on that rope. Next time. Kendall’s buddy Tucker came, too. Here is the cake Will picked. He picked it primarily because it had a lot of blue. Whatever makes him happy! He did great while everyone sang. You just never know with him. I am so proud of this little boy! He can be a handful, but I can’t imagine life without him. These last 3 years have been so much more precious with him. He has taught us so much about life and ourselves. I love him so, so much. I look forward to seeing him blossom even more this next year. He’s so intelligent and I can’t even imagine what he’ll be like at 4! When we got home, he had some helpers with his presents.
Cutie got a bike from his cousins! So fun! Happy 3rd Birthday Will Ryan!
Here are a bunch of pics from my phone. Not too much explanation needed! This was her first time at church (below). She slept all the way through SS and church! Never made a peep! One word to describe me: lucky. FSU colors! I am slightly obsessed with snuggling with this girl. She loves it. Will wasn’t a snuggler. I have a “no kid in the bed rule” at night, but during the day when we have nothing going on – what better is there to do?Feeling guilty that all the pics are Kendall ones. But he’s at school during the day! Ally got him some new house shoes and he has to sleep in them. Snuggling with Tigger and wearing his new blue shoes. Precious.
We visited one of my high school friends - Emily. Caught a quick pic of her 3 kiddos and Will. A little hard to get in Kendall in yet. Had a great visit and loved seeing them!
This has been the summer of babies! I have so many friends who have had babies this summer! Almost all of them are boys, too – only one other girl. So there was Camilla, Tucker, Eli, then Kendall, Matthew, Carter and another Eli. All between June and Aug. There is another friend from SS that is due very soon – also a boy. So basically we have all sorts of options if we want to start arranging a marriage. :) We love all these families so it would be great for us!
Here is Kendall on her first date – with Eli U. He’s pretty cute but they couldn’t seem to keep each other’s attention. Maybe next time Kendall will work on her chit chat skills. Here’s Kendall and Carter S. Kendall was much more social this time, but Carter was not the least bit interested. He’s still tiny so maybe on our next visit he’ll show us his pretty eyes. And here’s Kendall and Tucker. They are going to be at school together starting Oct 1st. I hope they become buddies and watch out for each other!
I can’t believe it has been 2 months. But, time does fly. Today we took Kendall for her 2 month check-up. Of course, she is perfect. Although her nose has been running and she is sneezing a lot. Other than that, she’s perfect. She got a great report from the doctor. Very strong girl with great social skills. She just smiled and smiled at the doctor. She also showed him how she can roll over. He thought she looked great. Here are the stats:
Weight: 10lbs 2 oz (45%)
Height: 23 3/4 in (90%)
Head: 38.3 (50%)
So she is tall – which I suspected. I really feel like she is long. She is gaining weight. Surprisingly, she weighs 1lb 3oz less than Will weighed at 2 months. I feel like she is a better eater, but I guess she really isn’t. Funny how you remember things differently than what they were. She got 3 shots plus the oral vaccine. Poor girl was not pleased! Below she was zonked out after!
So I did it, I finally took Will to the dentist. I know it was a little late based on what they recommend, but I knew it would be a disaster when we went - so I waited. I am so glad I did! Will became intensely shy when we got there. He did walk back and they eventually convinced him to sit up on the chair. They could not convince him to lay down. They didn't want to push him on his first visit, so they were ok with that. Ms. Jenny cleaned his teeth and he let her! I was very proud. I think the awesome shades they let him wear helped. They didn't do x-rays yet since he was so timid. Next time they are going to try to do that. They said his teeth looked great! I was shocked as there was quite a long phase where brushing his teeth was an all out war. Kevin had to hold him down and I had to brush. It was a 2 person job and sometimes the job just didn't get done. Either we weren't up for messing with it or one of us was unavailable, etc. I just knew we were going to get in trouble when they saw his teeth.
The pics are out of order, but the above one was at the very end. He got a prize (a small purple car) and he was so pleased! Below was the first pic where he was still really shy and she was trying to get him to warm up. Note one hand in the mouth and the other in his pocket - ha. Overall, it was a successful trip.
I have been married to a wonderful man, Kevin, since July 2007. Kevin & I welcomed our first child, Will Ryan in September 2009 and our beautiful girl Kendall Elizabeth in July 2012!
