Poop Happens

Don’t worry – none of these pictures involve poop. But I feel like I have been cleaning up an awful lot of poop lately! I had heard before (and can now confirm it is true) that antibiotics make babies have runny poop. That it does! We are at a week of the medicine and it apparently kicked into high gear. We have had several explosive blowouts (thank goodness none have been in public!) and may have ruined a pair of pjs. But…it gets better. I experienced my first Code Brown today. I learned this term from my nephew’s experiences. Poop…in the tub. Awesome! I was having the best time giving Will a bath tonight. He was playing and just really enjoying himself. And then…the water suddenly took on a strange color. EEEEEWWWW! The joys of motherhood! :)

We did have a fairly good weekend. I say fairly good because Friday night I woke up with excruciating ear pain. Of course only to confirm that I also have a bad ear infection. As my mom said, most people out grow those. Well, I am clearly not most people. It was so painful. I am also on antibiotics and have made an appt with an ENT. I am really worried about my hearing and the long-term effects of having fluid in my ears so often. I ran a fever and I wasn’t feeling all that well and really just wanted to rest.

On Sat we did head over to the McCoy’s place. I napped while everyone else enjoyed a fun Easter Egg Hunt! Dylan dominated (as Dustin put it) the hunt. Here are some pics of what I missed.

Dylan sporting some cute bunny ears.IMG_5531[3] Daddy made sure Will got his very first egg! He loved it! And sadly I wasn’t there. It was a perfect size for his cute little hands. I am told Kevin only knocked down about 3 or 4 kids to get that egg. You gotta do what you gotta do, right?IMG_5547[3] Dylan with his colorful eggs.IMG_5549[3]Will is showing off his cool first egg. IMG_5558[3] And showing off that precious smile that melts my heart.IMG_5563[3]More practice sitting. Notice he often only has one sock on. That’s because he loooooves to pull one off and usually eat it. Can’t imagine it tastes all that great, but he seems to think so!2010-03-26 001 2010-03-26 007 His first time wearing a hat. How cute is he? Doesn’t he look so different in a hat? I think he really looks like daddy here.2010-03-28 001 2010-03-28 003 Sweet little boy today prior to the Code Brown incident.2010-03-29 001 2010-03-29 003 Don’t judge. I thought this hair-do was only fitting after I cleaned up his poop out of the tub! This face says it all! What’s the big deal mom?!? 2010-03-29 001 2010-03-29 009

Little cutie pie. Don’t worry Will – I’ll clean you up anytime! And, no, I am not naive enough to think that is my last time. It was just a little shocking as it was my first!2010-03-29 001 2010-03-29 016I was feeling much better this evening and definitely have spring fever! I am so, so, so ready to work 3 days/week! I can’t wait to spend some days with sweet Will. I am growing more and more attached to him everyday. That is strange to say because it isn’t like I wasn’t attached. Hard to explain. He is just so much fun these days! I can’t get enough of him and miss him so much during the days! This great weather makes me ready for some days outside at our new house! I can’t wait!

Hope you had a lovely weekend and have a wonderful week!

6 month stats

Today we took Will for his 6 month check-up. I was glad we had an appointment because he had a really rough weekend and I had lots of questions. He was so fussy all weekend and I was convinced he was teething. It was the saddest thing to see him so miserable. He would just cry (and not the whine or scream, but just cry) and lay his head on my shoulder. I got a lot of cuddle time in (which I loved) but hated it was because he didn’t feel well. Come to find out…he has an ear infection. No wonder the orajel and teething tablets didn’t do a thing! I felt like a bad mom for assuming it was teething. He didn’t pull at his ear or anything, so how are you supposed to know these things? First time being sick – so sad.

Here are the stats…

Height: 26 1/2 inches (50%)

Weight: 15lbs 6 oz (22%)

Head: 42.7 (25%)

So he keeps getting longer – just not much thicker! He continues to be a light eater, but the doctor says he is completely healthy. He eased my worries about his refusal to spend any time on his tummy. He wasn’t concerned at all. Whew.

Well, considering he felt like poop, he did have a big milestone over the weekend – he started sitting on his own! You can tell in the pics that he doesn’t feel great, so excuse the not his best look pics. We are so proud of this milestone, that we had to document it! Way to go Will!

Poor kiddo. Breaks mommy’s heart!

We did have a good weekend, aside from Will not feeling well. Got to spend some time with our friends, the Gannon’s, at their daughter Meredith’s princess party! That’s where Will got the crown in the pic above. Fun to go to such a girlie party since we are all boy here. Also got to go to the Mavs game with some good friends and family. Always fun! And of course we were totally confused at the snow on Sunday. I just don’t get it. Texas.

Hope you have a great week and hope my next post has lots of happy pics!!

Happy 6 months!

Today sweet Will turned 6 months old!  How in the world did that happen?  We go for his doctor visit on Monday.  We will have the chance to ask all sorts of questions.  No teeth, yet for the little guy.  He’s not quite sitting on his own for very long.  He’ll do it for a very, very short amount of time and then he’ll lean to grab something.  The boy doesn’t like to sit…still.  But he seems close.  He doesn’t want to hold is own bottle.  Not sure why.  Why would he when we’ll do it?  :)

He is such a happy boy, though and is more entertaining everyday.  He is so much more interactive and loves to grab your face when you hold him (and hair, necklace, skin, etc).

Here is what our 6 month old looks like today.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Did you wear your green today?  Will did!2010-03-17 001 2010-03-17 007

And, because I am on a video kick, here is one of him talking today.  Did you get all that?

I did take the cutest bare bootie pics of Will the other day.  I’ll be modest and not post those, but if you want to see them (Mimi/Ally) let me know and I’ll send them to you!

Video Blog

Well, I didn’t get nearly as many pics this last week.  I’m not sure why.  We had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the amazing weather!  I love this time of year!  The time changes…we get more daylight after work…and I know my busy season is on the downhill!  Down to a month and then I only work 3 days a week!  Can’t wait!

Had a great afternoon with Will today.  He was just in the best mood.  He had a nap right before I picked him up, so he was ready to play. He went with  me to the grocery store after work and sat in the basket like a big boy (with the help of our nifty basket cover and straps).  He even ate a whole jar of carrots when we got home!  It was a mini jar, but he really seemed to enjoy them.  So far carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash are pretty good to him.

Here is a pic of the cutie this afternoon.  I can’t wait to spend more days with this sweet little guy!

I decided to throw in some videos tonight.  Here is a little glimpse into our child’s feelings towards tummy time.  Have you ever seen a kid avoid it as much as he does?  I can’t for the life of me figure out why he will not spend any amount of time on his tummy.  They even laugh about it at his school and have me worried that he won’t learn to crawl because he won’t stay on his tummy!  He does love to stand, so I won’t panic too much and will assume maybe he’ll just go straight to walking!  Here is what happens when you put him on his tummy.  He’ll do this over and over again.

Here is another video from this afternoon.  You will have to excuse the silly noise I am making.  He always laughs at this noise for some reason.  And, like any good parent, I’ll do whatever it takes to get some laughs!  He is so sweet when he chuckles, I can’t help myself!

On a side note, we have started trying to wean him from the paci a little.  We aren’t going hard core, but I’ve just been slowly minimizing the amount of time he gets it.  He even goes to sleep at night without it.  He does great at night.  He definitely still needs it at nap time, but that is about the only time he has to have it.  If he is really tired, he’ll fall asleep without it.  He’s such a good baby, I figured I might as well avoid him getting addicted if he doesn’t really need it.  I am surprised at how easily he has gone without it at bed time.

Not too much else is new with us.  Things are good and we are loving the weather!  Keep it coming!!

Back in Business!

Well, we are finally back in business on the computer front! We decided to go ahead and purchase a netbook as a temporary fix. It works and would be great to use as a mobile computer, but I do miss the full sized version.

Since I was behind, this is loaded with lots of pics of what has been going on lately! Enjoy!

Aunt Kayse came home for the weekend and entertained Will all evening! They were funny. Will was worn out by the end of the evening and found a good cozy place to snooze. Aren’t they sweet?DSC_0911 DSC_0912 Will has been doing great on his eating. Mimi was feeding him and he loved it! Today he ate a whole thing of sweet potatoes plus what was left from yesterday. He apparently loves sweet potatoes! So do I. :)

We celebrated Tricia’s birthday last weekend at J’s place. Dylan is in charge of determining the theme for everyone’s celebrations. Mommy needed a princess party…so that’s what we had!DSC_0933

Uncle Dust hanging with Will – I think they’re having some fun! DSC_0951

Uncle J and 2 of his buddies. How cute are they?DSC_0926This just made me laugh. I walked in and this yellow piece from his jumperoo was in the floor. Kevin was upstairs and said he heard it pop off. Apparently we have a very strong little boy!DSC_0913

Here I am in my happy place. I love, love, love him sleeping on me. I love spoiling him and can’t imagine him not being in our lives. Everyday I am continually amazed at how blessed we are with this little boy. I worked in the nursery at church this morning and there were lots of sweet babies but lots of fussy ones! Will is just so easy going and makes this whole process so enjoyable. I love you Will!DSC_0954Good times with Daddy! DSC_0957 He just looks like such a big boy. I know he’s still little but him standing just amazes me – he shouldn’t be this big, yet!DSC_0962Ah yes, My Aunt Rocks! Wonder where he got that cute outfit…Kayse?? :) DSC_0966

Got new pj’s from Ally, so that means new pics, right? Hey – check out my foot!DSC_0968Can we say sweet cheeks?? DSC_0974 Be still my heart…DSC_0976

I’ve got G.J. wrapped around my finger!DSC_0978

G.J. – have you seen my cool turtle?DSC_0981 After all that practice he still hates tummy time. He immediately still rolls right to his back if you put him on his tummy. I don’t know what he has against the tummy. Here daddy is forcing him to stay for a bit. It is funny because he tries so hard to flip on over.DSC_0982

Now he loves his jumperoo. He was just a little small for it when we got it. He plays and plays in it now.DSC_0984 Someone is just about too big for his tub! He loves his bath time with daddy!DSC_0998

I don’t even have to say much other than…eye lashes. Wow.CIMG3453

That’s the short and sweet on us lately. I’ll keep the commentary to a minimum tonight. Enjoy your week!

No Luck

Well, the computer is definitely kerput. Such a bummer. We may be investing in one of those cheap netbooks this weekend just so we can fulfill our home internet needs (blogging). We'll put a desktop on the ever growing list of things we need/want when we move. The list is mighty long. Fortunately, there are only a couple of needs (refrigerator) - while the rest are wants (tv/entertainment center). I think being able to post pictures of the cutest boy ever is a need. I'm sure that's up for debate, though.

Hope you have had a wonderful week. It has been so great to finally see some shining sun the last few days! Makes me so happy!

Blog Delay

Well, I am behind on blogging. I was going to get caught up last night and post some lovely pictures taken over this past weekend - a really great weekend. But...our computer stinks. And that is putting it nicely. I don't know what is wrong with it but it suddenly refuses to open any programs. It won't even launch the internet. Maybe a windows problem? I don't know. But it is sad and it isn't really something we wanted to spend $ on as we are purchasing a house! Always something. Not sure when you'll get to see pictures of our sweet boy again. Hopefully it will magically be fixed tonight. Here's hoping.

P.S. The good news is that we were having trouble with it last week so we backed everything up - no risk of losing our precious pictures. Yay us for being careful!
