Splish Splash

Uncle J said we needed a blog update, so here we go!

Not too much has happened this last week or so. I did take a cute pic below of Will watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He gets to watch it every morning while we get ready for work. He’ll actually sit and watch it for a good bit. Cracks me up.2010-07-17 001 2010-07-16 003I think I’ve mentioned before that I just am obsessed with his feet. I put his flip flops on the other day (otherwise he never wears shoes). His feet looked so cute! Sadly the shoe broke so I don’t think he’ll get to wear them anymore. 2010-07-17 001 2010-07-17 009 He very much enjoys standing at our bedroom window and banging. Hello out there!2010-07-17 001 2010-07-17 017We celebrated Uncle J’s girlfriend Lindsey’s birthday last Saturday. Dylan was in charge of the theme and you guessed it – frogs! I never took her as a frog kind of girl, but she seemed to think it was pretty cool! 2010-07-17 001 2010-07-17 033 2010-07-17 001 2010-07-17 039 Dylan with his crush Lindsey and Uncle J!2010-07-17 001 2010-07-17 041 Will wasn’t feeling all that well so he found some comfort in Mimi’s arms!2010-07-17 001 2010-07-17 045 Last Thursday we met Tricia and Dylan at the splash park. Will loves to take baths, so I thought he would love playing in the water…but no. I think the feel of the ground and all the kids around overwhelmed him. Next year – he’ll dominate that water park!003Dylan, on the other hand, is a pro. He was all over that park! 007 009 I’m not sure if Dylan got bored or if he just thought this was a nice, cool play to relax…016Dylan makes a good place to sit! 020

On Tuesday, Will spent the day with Tricia and Dylan and Tricia took these cute pics! Thanks for watching him Tricia! He told me he had a blast!SweetWill SweetWill2

Oh and another tooth cut last night! The top middle-right one cut. He’ll no longer be a vampire!

I hope you all are having a good week and finding ways to keep cool!

Things are changing!

First of all - yesterday was our 3rd anniversary! I love you so much Kevin and am so happy to be your wife! Thank you for spoiling me yesterday with lunch, flowers, and a lovely dinner. I can't believe how our life has changed in the last 3 years! It gets better everyday!

Boy are things changing! It is amazing what a difference a week makes! Our child is developing at a rapid pace! First and foremost…he is officially crawling! We thought it would never happen – but it has. And – now he is making up for lost time! His crawling technique is rather interesting – I’ll have to post a video soon. He uses his left knee but his right foot. It is funny. He has gotten quite good at it and my life is definitely changing! He was soooooo easy for sooo long. I guess it was time for things to be shaken up a bit!

So much started happening literally the day of his 9 month check up. That very day he started standing in his crib. A few days later he had mastered sitting up on his own and now he pops right up. That next Monday I taught him to clap. He is so cute when he claps. He’s also been giving the sweetest kisses for several weeks now. And then last week he finally figured out crawling!2010-07-10 001 2010-07-10 004 He has always loved standing so much so we thought we should buy him a toy where he could do that rather than hanging out around the coffee table all the time and well banging on it. We went to the toy store to look for the toy above and got a pleasant surprise when they were buy 1 get 1 FREE! We were pumped. So not only did he get the awesome table above, he got the cool shopping cart seen in the pics below. He’s not quite ready to cruise with the cart, but at the rate he’s going, I’m guessing it won’t be long.2010-07-10 001 2010-07-10 007 2010-07-10 001 2010-07-10 011

I think he’s enjoying the new toys – what do you think? 2010-07-13 001 2010-07-10 004

A little less exciting milestone is that he has started throwing little fits. What?!? My sweet son? How is that possible? I don’t know – but let me tell you, it is. It is so funny to see this whole little personality emerge. Funny and well a little scary. He has frequently decided that he’s not really into having his diaper changed or putting on clothes and makes it well quite a challenge to get the job done. Tues was his first day of the new daycare and I was more than anxious to begin with. He decided he didn’t want to put on clothes or have a diaper. It felt like he was testing me. It was slightly amusing and cute to see his bare little bottom crawling off, but also rather frustrating! I’m the mom – I should have control, right? I didn’t want to hurt him by man handling him to flip back over – whew. Eventually the diaper was put on and the clothes were, too. And I had an entire day of severe anxiety. He was fine at the daycare and his new teacher is rather lovely. Kevin and I spent our lunch hour there with him and talking with her. Little does she know – she’s got a mini Kevin on her hands! :) Kevin’s mom has told me stories of how he was a “challenging” child when he was a toddler. He is sweet as can be now, but it took some work to channel his aggression. So far Will’s fits have been minor, but it gives me a glimpse of what could be to come. :) I love you Kevin!! 2010-07-13 001 2010-07-13 002

Even with his fun new toys, he still does a lot of this… 2010-07-13 001 2010-07-13 004

Just look at this face below! He continues to be the sweetest little boy in the world! Though things are changing and getting more challenging, it is so fun to see him become a little person. He’s an amazing gift and I don’t take that lightly. I am thankful, more thankful every single day that I am his mommy. I may not know what I’m doing, but together we’ll figure it all out. 2010-07-13 001 2010-07-13 008

Just pray the falls and bumps are minimal – man does that scare me when he bites it. Ugh. Pray we parent this amazing boy to the best our abilities. And pray that he feels as loved as he is!

TN Good Times

I am finally taking the time to blog about our fun trip to Murfreesboro, TN last weekend! Kevin’s sister Kellie and her husband Nick live there which is just outside of Nashville. They were kind enough to invite us to spend a few days with them. We had a great time! Will sure enjoyed all the attention from his fun aunts! He had a blast!2010-07-10 001 2010-07-03 002 Aunt Kayse has taught him all sorts of fun tricks. I think this one has a funny name that is escaping me.2010-07-10 001 2010-07-03 009 While we were there, we celebrated Aunt Kellie’s birthday. It is coming up so it only made sense to celebrate in person. Happy almost Birthday Kellie! Will sure enjoyed spending time with you!2010-07-10 001 2010-07-03 017

We enjoyed a lot of (wonderful) downtime while we were there but we did get out everyday and do something fun. One day we went to dinner in the Murfreesboro square. This particular day we went to downtown Nashville and had dinner and walked around. There seemed to be lots of cool places to hear live music. But – we didn’t want to be “those” people who…had a baby…in a bar (reference a classic movie) so we clearly didn’t go in! :)013 Will definitely enjoyed the ride!016The kiddos 019 A family pic – yay! We have very few of these.023 A pic with Ally!027 Since it was the 4th of July weekend there was a lot going on. I bet this was going to be something fun once it got dark.028 On Sunday the 4th Nick took us out on his boat! It was so much fun and he and Kellie were sweet enough to get a life vest for Will so he could go, too! He was so cute in it! It was a little overwhelming on his little body and he definitely was not sure what to think at first but he warmed up to it.031 Nick even let him co-captain for a bit.038 Enjoying the ride with daddy!040 Here is Will’s typical response to something funny Aunt Kayse is doing. He gets the biggest kick out of her! He loves his Aunt Kayse!050 After awhile the breeze in his hair and the sway of the boat put this kiddo right to sleep. He got a nice little nap on the way back. He was so sweet!057 The girls got Will a matching Old Navy 4th of July shirt. They looked cute in their patriotic shirts!061 Thanks Uncle Nick for teaching me to drive! I can’t wait to come visit again next summer!070 Thanks to our great hosts for having us! We had a great time! We drove out there and decided it would be wisest to drive through the night as our sweet boy has gotten very active lately. I didn’t envision him being awake for long period of time in the car being a good thing. It paid off because he slept pretty much the whole way there and back. Can’t wait to go again next year!

9 month Professionals

We recently had Will’s 9 month pics taken and he did great! Joy Neville took them again and again she did a great job capturing our sweet boy. http://jnevillephotos.com/ Here are a few of my favorites.920975946_SM5p4-L 920977432_bUzCW-L 920979682_mDjKc-L 920983725_7c56H-L 920984668_nLSHu-L 920986546_8jpNG-L 920987863_BabpK-L
