More Easter Fun

Last Saturday, Dylan invited us to an Easter Egg hunt in their neighborhood. We didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to try out our hunting skills so we gladly joined. Here are my two handsome men! Will got bored by the pre-hunt entertainment, so daddy took him on a walk. How cute are they? Miss Cookie was the pre-hunt entertainment. She was entertaining to some of the kids, I guess. I need to get in touch with my inner child, I think.Uncle Dustin also helped with occupying Will. Check out their amazing trick! (Love the look on Dust’s face!).And the hunt begins! It lasted maybe 2 min tops. We had a great spot…on the end…not many kids. If Will had been really into it, he would have scored a bunch of eggs. Like the day before, he just wanted to see what was in one of those things.

For some reason, Will gets a huge kick out of dumping his eggs onto the ground. He does it at home, too. We took all the candy out of the eggs and let him play with him and at home he immediately dumps them out. (Notice Tricia and her baby belly – so cute!).

School Easter Egg Hunt

Friday, Kevin and I went up to Will’s school to watch him have his very first Easter Egg Hunt! Somehow we were the only parents in Will’s class to go – guess we were more excited than the other parents. I thought it was a big deal! (Other parents went, just none from Will’s class). Here he is pretty excited about heading out. I don’t think he knew what we were doing, but he knew we were doing something exciting and that mommy and daddy were there to watch.Unfortunately it had rained the night before, so they had to hunt eggs in the hall. Not too much of a challenge, but I don’t think the kids cared at all. Will got off to a good start. He was way more interested in finding out what was actually in the eggs. How in the world was he supposed to be enticed to pick up more eggs when he opens one and finds a ball in it?!? Overall I would say his first hunt was a success! He seems like he is proud and telling daddy all about it. We really got to see him perk up when Ms. Olga pulled out the bag of balls! Our child was the only one that seemed that excited but he was right there ready to scoop one up. We also saw him push this little wheeled thing around. I’ve heard about his skills with thing. It was funny to see him in person. Apparently he does this every day on the playground. He is a maniac. He almost ran me over pushing this thing around. His teachers frequently comment on how “busy” our son is. Busy, indeed! We hung around for a little bit because we never get to visit during the day to see what sort of fun things they do. They all sat down and the teacher was singing songs. He’s so cute sitting at the table in that little chair! One of his apparently favorite things to do at school – wash his hands! He washed them twice while we were there. Glad he’s so concerned with cleanliness!Not the best picture, but I wanted to get one with Ms. Olga. She is an amazing lady and is so sweet with our Will. She is so patient and gentle. We love this woman! She’s great with him. We also love his other teacher, Ms. Marisha – but she was out on Friday. I’ll have to get her picture another day.

Fun times at Will’s school! He learns so much there. It is fun seeing him in his school environment. He has really thrived in his big boy class. Thankful for his wonderful teachers!

Just like daddy

This little cutie loves his daddy! He thought he would try out daddy’s shoes. Just a few years buddy and you’ll get there. Love your little belly, Will! This kid is too much fun!

Tricks

Not really sure he managed this – but we came into the room one morning to find him like this a few weeks ago. Silly boy! It kind of reminded me of when he used to do this. Love this kid and the silly things he does!

Milestone

Promise to do a real blog with pictures soon, but thought I should mark our newest milestone...

We are paci free!

We didn't really plan to get rid of it, yet. He only has used it for sleeping for probably the last year. I figured I would tackle breaking that this summer when I was home more. But there for a couple of weeks he suddenly became very, very attached to it in the morning and would not give it up without a major meltdown. I was very concerned becuase he had never really been that way. We usually would put it on the dresser in the morning and would say "bye paci!" I mentioned it to his teacher at school and she said he had not had it at all, even for naps, for the last month. What?!? So that's when Kevin and I decided it was on. We were being played and needed to break this trend before it became really an issue. So this last weekend - we did it. Cold turkey. He asked for it quite a bit and still even asked for it this morning, but it went really well. He woke up crying one night looking for it, but it only lasted a couple of minutes. I was shocked really at how easily he transitioned.

Yay Will! We're proud of you for being such a big boy and handling it like a champ! (We'll let this be a celebratory blog post and leave out the part about the biting incident. Don't worry, he didn't bite another child...just his mommy!).

18 month stats

We took the little tooter to the doctor on Friday for his 18 month check-up. He's perfectly perfect! We even made the chart this time for his weight! Yay Will! The doc had no concerns at all. He did recommend we start seeing a dentist, really? At this age? I mentioned our daily battles with brushing his teeth and he gave me a few pointers and said the dentist would like to see him at this age. Other moms out there - when did you start taking your little ones? There is no way he would sit there and do anything productive. No way. I can barely get him to let me force a brush into his mouth for a couple of brushes. Such fun!

Everything is going well here. The word of the week: busy. Busy, busy, busy. We're ready for slow, slow slow. It will come, maybe. Only 2 more weeks of tax season madness. Yippie!

School Days

Will had his first set of school pics last week! I thought they turned out pretty cute! His hair is a little rough, but I was really surprised at how well the little school pic turned out. They've come a long way from the basic blue background. I was more shocked that he sat there and sort of smiled. Big boy!
