Happy 4th of July!

We have had a fun 4th of July weekend! We’ve been much more social than usual – which is good for us!

Friday night we went over to my brother’s and had a mini welcome home Miles get together. (I even cooked for everyone – felt oh so grown up). Got some good cuddle time with the adorable baby. But no pics.

Saturday, Kevin mowed in the morning, I had lunch with a good friend, and then we went down to our friends Matt, Paula', & Bryce’s that evening to swim and have a cook out. That was fun!

Sunday, we went to church and took it easy that afternoon. That evening we headed up to visit with some friends in Plano to swim and cookout. They were very sweet to have us and invited us to go with them to watch fireworks. We thought about going but were worried it would really be too late to keep Will out. Maybe next year. However, we could not have planned it if we tried but managed to get to see the fireworks on our way home coming down the tollway. My way to do it – in the air conditioned car! After they we had passed them, Will kept saying…I seed it! I seed it! So cute.

Then this morning, we headed over to the LH parade! It was so cute and reminded me of the parades in my hometown growing up. Paula and Bryce went with us and the boys seemed to really enjoy it. At first we had to wait a bit for it to start and they saw this huge open field as a huge temptation for running free! Then they found this spot of dirt and decided to pick it up and play in it. Will isn’t smiling but I was pretty proud that I got this good of a picture of them! Impossible to get a good one of all 4 of us – but this is the best we got. The 4 of us enjoy lots of fun play dates! The parade was starting – Will was excited to see the big fire truck that was in the front of the parade! Paula and Bryce were excited, too! The Tookers in our red, white, and blue! Will loves fire trucks! About half way through the parade he kind of looked at us and said…more fire truck? Aw. Unfortunately, there was just this one. Kids could decorate their bikes and ride in the parade – so fun! Will behaved so well through the whole thing – I was pleasantly surprised! A cute picture of my two favorite men after the parade. Play time & Bath time

I haven’t been good at posting pics lately, so I thought I’d just post a few of some random happenings around our house. Seems like we’ve been keeping busy lately. Our days off seem to get filled with a playdate or some other event. This particular day, Will wanted to help with the yard. Believe me Will, if daddy could let you mow it – he would!

Lately, Will has been a bit of a handful. He’s officially hit the tantrums associated with the terrible twos. He’s been doing this for a few months now. It is hard. No one really prepares you for these things and no one prepares you for figuring out disciplining. We’re at a point where we can’t just excuse him for being too young to know – we have to start doing something. So, we’re trying time out. He’s been in at least once a day since we started! Oh boy. His most annoying new trick is saying No…repeatedly. When he doesn’t want to do something or doesn’t like what’s happening he starts yelling…No, no, no, no, no, no!!! Ugh. Mommy and daddy are not a fan of this. Neither are we a fan of him throwing or hitting when he’s upset. That is one that lands him in the time out chair frequently. It is hard because he’s also at a really, really fun age! He’s learning at a ridiculous pace. His verbal skills have come such a long way and he can communicate really well with us. That is so fun. He is starting to learn to count, learning colors, and shapes a bit. So cute to hear him sing songs. He tries the abc and twinkle twinkle song a lot. He also plays really well with us. His favorite thing is to play chase. We have to chase him, of course. He frequently says…Get me! So cute! He also doesn’t like to be alone right now. He used to play really well in his play area but now he needs someone right there with him at all times. Not sure why. He frequently is saying Mommy sit down! Or Daddy sit down! When he falls down, Kevin has taught him to say “Safe!”. Hilarious! He seems to like baseball and if he isn’t really hurt, he’ll do it. He plays hard and he seems to go non-stop. Wears me out watching him. Wish I had that energy. He plays with cars all the time. He’s such a boy. Cars, trains, trucks, etc. I thought he would love this spray toy for the yard, but he wasn’t too sure about doing it on his own. Kevin had to help him get wet. Eventually he warmed up a bit but seemed to need Kevin holding him to enjoy it. Silly boy.

I hadn’t done a bath pic in awhile, so here one is! He’s growing up so stinking fast. He actually has a lot of bath toys, but seems to love playing with the boat the most. Sweet boy saying Cheese! Love him to pieces!

Miles McCoy

Lots of blogging to catch up on – but the first one must be the arrival of our sweet nephew – Miles David McCoy!

Wednesday, June 29th at 7:42pm he finally came into the world. We were all there at the hospital. Ready. Waiting. And waiting. :) The wait was worth it! Such a sweet memory meeting our cute, sweet Miles.

After many hours of chilling in the hospital – it happened. We got to meet sweet Miles. Uncle J is loving adding his third nephew to the family! Yawn…It has been a long day! I have really long fingers! I snagged him as quick as they would let me. Love being an aunt!! A third grandson for Mimi. She is good with boys! Two grandmas ready to spoil him… Tricia’s brother made a surprise visit! Dylan spent the night with us and before we took him to the hospital on Wednesday, we took him to get supplies for this birthday party! Of course – he knew right away that Miles would love a Cars party! What boy wouldn’t?!? I am pretty sure much of Dylan’s day was spent wondering when he was going to get to eat a cupcake and get those plastic rings off of them. Oh to be 4 1/2… Yum…red icing!! Pretty mommy and Miles on Thursday. Looking good!! I took Will to meet Miles after work on Thurs. He was slightly amused. He wasn’t really excited about me holding the baby. Luckily Dustin distracted him pretty well while I did (and managed to slobber his snack all over Dustin…sorry about that!). Mimi showed up a bit later and Will really didn’t like sharing his Mimi with a baby. That one we’ll have to work on!

So happy to meet you Miles! Will can’t wait until you’re old enough to run around and play with him. Oh the fun the boys will have!

Father's Day

Sunday was father's day and we took the time to celebrate what a wondeful daddy Kevin is to Will. I can't tell you how thankful I am that my son has such a wonderful man to call daddy. Kevin is incredibly hands on and that little boy loves him so much. I often call Will Kevin's shadow - whatever daddy does, Will wants to do, too. I love how he now copies him - just adorable.
We also got to have dinner with Kevin's dad (known as Jeff or G.J. to Will). Kevin appreciates his dad dearly and Will Ryan certainly thinks G.J. is pretty special. Thanks G.J. for all you do for us and for all the time you spend with Will. So many fun memories made and so many more to come!

Back to normal

So things are getting back to normal around here. Vacation is over and I am on my part-time schedule. Life is good! Will started his new school this week. I had made myself a nervous wreck worrying about how he was going to handle the transition. I had convinced myself it would be traumatic for him. Ha! Nothing could be further from the truth. He loves it. They were shocked at how well he fit right in and did all the things they asked. They were surprised at how well he talks. He really does talk a lot. A whole lot.

So I picked him up from school yesterday and he was playing very intently with some toys at the table. He never looked up to see me. Finally his teacher said Will look who is at the door. He jumps up when he sees me and starts yelling “Yay!!!” and clapping his hands and jumping up and down. It was so sweet. So cute. So we get our stuff ready and I tell him to tell his teachers bye…and at the top of his lungs he yells “BYE TEACHERS!!” Oh my goodness. They started cracking up laughing. He is literal. And he is loud! Funny kid. I feel like he is really comfortable there – and that makes this momma happy. So far we are really pleased with the move.

Being on my part-time schedule with Tricia on a teacher schedule means we can have play dates with Dylan (or Doden as Will calls him)! Today we hit up the spray park. It is a nice, cool, cheap way to spend a hot summer morning.

Will needed Tricia to help him put water in this little plastic thing he found. She is a trooper. She is very pregnant and hoping Miles makes his debut any day now! We are all on stand-by! We can’t wait to meet him!! Tricia brought watermelon for a snack, and little did she know that it is Will’s new favorite fruit! He could not get enough. He almost ate her entire tub of watermelon that she brought. Guess we’ll be buying lots of watermelon this summer! Love spending time with these sweet boys! Can’t wait until we have three sweet boys running around! Oh the fun they are all going to have!!

I can’t think of too much else that is new. Just trying to find ways to enjoy our summer while staying out of the insane heat! Too hot already. Ugh.

A part of Mavs History

Kevin and I were extremely fortunate to be able to say we were a part of Dallas Mavericks history! A huge perk of Kevin’s job is that they have a suite at the AAC. Occasionally, we get tickets to events and sometimes we even get to use the whole suite to take friends. Well, we got 4 tickets to Game 5 of the NBA Finals in the suite! That’s right – we were there. Not bragging, well aware that we are extremely lucky to have that opportunity. Kevin invited his good friend Matt and his wife Courtney. I think all 4 of us agreed that it was hands down the most exciting sporting event we had ever attended.They gave everyone that attended a blue Mavs shirt to wear. Above you can see the sea of blue – it was really cool. The game was so close the entire time that every single basket was a huge deal. The intensity of the crowd was awesome! There was a lot of standing during this game. Of course it made all the more amazing that they won! After the game, the Mavs drumline came down right below our suite and played for quite awhile. Tons of people gathered around and it was quite a celebration! (It also brought me back to my high school band (nerd) days!). Such a fun memory! Way to go Mavs!!
