Beach Vacation

I’m finally blogging! We went on a wonderful Mexico vacation recently and I haven’t been able to get myself onto the computer to blog about it for some reason. Part of the reason was that the pictures I took were all on my phone and it took me a bit to figure out how to retrieve them. Yes, that’s right – phone pictures. Ha. My how things have changed. Long story short – due to a battery issue with my regular camera, the phone was all I had. Amazingly, I thought it took pretty decent pictures. I uploaded all of them, as there really weren’t that many.

Here is my favorite thing to do on vacation. And I did it…A LOT. We both actually love to read but rarely find the time to do it. So we both read quite a bit on the trip. So relaxing to lay on the beach (in the shade) with a book in hand and a nice man offering to bring us drinks! The resort was amazing. I highly recommend it. It was a pretty good size and really seemed to allow everyone to spread out. Lots of beach space and more pools than I could count – seriously. Here is the cute little wedding area. One day we were parked on our chairs and actually watched a ceremony! Hope they didn’t mind! :) We also did a lot of this. Eating!! There were 8 (yes eight) restaurants on the resort. We didn’t even get to all of them. Here are our fun desserts the first night. The ocean was pretty, but it wasn’t that much fun to get in. There was a crazy amount of seaweed. I’m not sure if it is always like that or if it was due to the storms out at sea. More eating. I didn’t really take too many pictures, because we really didn’t do much – and that’s exactly what I wanted. I did try to take a couple around the resort. Underneath that hut is a swim up bar and behind it is the grill where we had lunch and dinner several times. They had regular grill food at lunch and steaks at dinner. It was nice to be semi-outside while we ate right by the pool and beach. Behind me (below) is the building in which we stayed. Random resort pics The one above and below is the view from our room. Not too shabby. We were in the VIP side of the resort because well, that’s how we roll. So – it was quieter and less crowded.

Was it hard to leave Will? Absolutely. But, honestly it was a little easier than I thought it would be. It wasn’t until the day that we were heading home that I was getting all kinds of anxious. I knew he was in excellent hands. In fact, I am quite certain he didn’t miss us a bit. A HUGE thanks to Jeff, Daneille, Liz, Allyson & Bobby for taking such good care of our little guy while we vacationed. I know you guys spoiled him rotten and he loved every minute of it. Kevin and I got a much needed break from the stresses of life and were able to come back a little more relaxed and clear headed. It could be a long time before we get to take another one, so we’ll hold onto this one for awhile!

Zoo!!

Today was a real treat – it was a gorgeous day and we hit up the zoo with our fun friends from down the street! They have a family zoo pass and they invited us to join them. Will had no idea what what in store!

He did think it was pretty awesome that Bryce got to ride in our car with us. You should have heard them squeal to one another the whole way there! Such a sweet memory! Look how brave Will’s friend was. Notice we’re taking a picture of his friend and not him on the carousel? Yep – Will was too chicken to ride! We got on it the first time and I tried to put Will on a horse – he said no way! So I held him as we rode around. Bryce loves to ride and wanted to go a 2nd time – we just sat that one out! But we had fun waving as Bryce & Paula went by each time! Oh well. We got to feed these fish. Will loved that. They all swarmed to the food. Will wasn’t so sure about getting up close to some of the animals in the petting zoo – this was more his speed! :) I think he’s thinking – that pig isn’t nearly as cute as the ones in my books! The bunny was cute, though! Below we’re looking for the penguins. Bryce has the cheese thing down – Will won’t smile for the camera for anything. ‘Look at this awesome team work!

We had our lunch (Will actually ate like a champ for once) and got to watch the “choo choo” (really a tram) go by. They loved that! Sweet, sweet boys! I’m so glad Will has a fun friend to do fun stuff with! What a great day for the zoo!

Fun with Will

I am definitely enjoying my days off with my cute little man. Some days we get out and see the world, some days we just enjoy the down time. I love this little outfit on him. We use it as pj’s. The pic of above is one of his funny faces. He is quite a character! If only you could hear the oooooh sound he makes while making this face. Funny kid. This little stud muffin was modeling for us before church on Sunday. GQ – here we come!

Will is also moving to a new school in a couple of weeks. For all sorts of reasons, we think a move is appropriate. We are really excited about the new school and if you don’t mind praying for a relativity easy transition – we would be grateful. I’m nervous.

We are also going on vacation soon! Yippie!! I can’t tell you how ready I am to get away! We are not taking the little tooter – I am really nervous about that. But he will be in good hands – so he likely won’t miss us a bit. Lots of good books, a beach, some shade, NO work, quality time with my husband, no cleaning, no cooking, no planning…oh I can’t wait! Seriously, I am so excited. No really – I am crazy excited. Ok, you get the picture. :)

19 month Pics

We recently had Will’s 18 month (that were really 19 month) pictures taken at the Arboretum. Whew – it is much harder to photograph a kid on the move. I love the picture below because this pretty much sums up our session. Us chasing Will around! The poor photographer really wanted him to sit and pose but that was surely not going to happen. There was too much to see! I think she did get some cute ones. It was a warm day so we were all worn out by the end of it! Will crashed in the car. I like the ones at the end where we put his hat on him (he loves wearing it) and let him run around with the ball. One of his favorite activities! Think we have a future soccer star on our hands? Maybe!

A Milestone

Nope, this milestone isn’t about Will. It is about my Honda! She hit 100,000 miles this past week! I know, this is silly but I kind of got a little reminiscent about the car once she hit her milestone.

For awhile, I’ve been thinking it is time to get rid of her. But, now that she is officially 10 years old and right at 100k miles – I’m growing attached. Now Kevin probably feels differently. Unfortunately he’s had the pleasure of driving her since Will was born. She’s a 2 door Accord coupe. Kevin’s a tall guy – you get the picture not exactly a car he would pick. But when I picked her, I was just a year out of college - a young single girl. I bought her brand new and I was proud. I knew I wanted to get my money’s worth but I probably really didn’t think she’d still be around 10 yrs later!She’s been such a good car and I have more than gotten my money’s worth! Thank you Kevin for marking this milestone for me! :) We’ll see how long she hangs around!

So thankful…

To be this little boy’s mommy!We had a lovely mother’s day celebrating both mine and Kevin’s wonderful moms. Also enjoyed reflecting on what a privilege it is to get to be a mom myself. I don’t take that for granted. It is the most rewarding job ever. I love it!

Phone Pics

I often take pictures of Will on my phone. Today I was scrolling through them and thought I should post them here so that I have them saved. Some of them are pretty cute!

Today Will was insistent that his doggie have breakfast with him. Well, ok then. He won that battle. Will loves playing at the park. He also likes to climb the slide. I love this one. Daddy and Will coloring out at lunch one day. Can you see Will taking care of business? Here he is in daddy’s chair at his office.

Here is Will with his friend Bryce at lunch. We bring all kinds of stuff when we take Will out to eat in attempts to keep him happy and quiet. Just a cute boy on our way to school one morning. More slide fun! Will and Bryce again at the park. Bryce actually lives just down the street from us! We are so happy to have met this sweet family. Will and Bryce play really well together. Bryce is just 3 months older than Will. They are so cute together! PJ day at school! Be still my heart. Sweetest picture ever of him. We always go into his room and check on him and cover him up again before we go to bed and we found him like this one night. Snuggling with his puppy. Nothing sweeter!
